IZMIR
The cosmopolitan city, lively all year round, lies at the head of a wide gulf lined with ships and yachts. Izmir is the third largest city with the second largest port in Turkey and popular for shopping trips. In the winding streets of the Kemeralti market you will find not only fascinating antique pieces and a wide range of clothing items, but also dried figs and sultanas, a specialty from Izmir. Local fish specialties such as "trança" and "çipura" are served in the surrounding restaurants. There is always lively activity around the clock tower on Konak Square, the center of this historic port city. Izmir offers its visitors numerous and incomparable possibilities. The geographical location characterized by the Mediterranean climate, the natural riches and the historical cultural heritage are reason enough to choose Izmir as a holiday destination.
EPHESUS
Ephesus is one of the largest ruined cities in the western world and allows the visitor an incredible insight.
It encompasses all the riches of the Ionian culture and greatly influenced the ideas of the time. The Temple of Artemis, one of the seven wonders of the world at that time, as well as other magnificent temples and buildings, such as the two-story Library of Celsus, built in 135 AD, symbolize the city's former glory and wealth.
PERGAMON
Pergamon, the great cultural center of antiquity, is one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in Turkey to this day.
Above the city lie the remains of the Acropolis, a library, a theatre, the temples of Trajan and Dionysus. The ancient site, picturesquely situated on a 335 meter high former castle hill with an impressive view, is one of the most visited sights on the Turkish west coast. In its heyday, the city was more important than Egyptian Alexandria.
ALACATI
A good 50 kilometers from Izmir on the Cesme peninsula, Alaçati is a picture-perfect fishing village with its cobblestone streets, century-old windmills and mastic plantations.
Small cafés, charming boutiques and numerous restaurants nestle along the narrow streets of Alaçati. Although there is a constant strong breeze in the natural harbour, the sea is calm. This is precisely why this bay is no longer an insider tip for windsurfers all over the world. In the windsurfing season from May to October you can find surfers of all nationalities. Beginner courses from local water sports schools make it easy for beginners to stay on the board. The region is also popular with sailors. Surfing and sailing regattas are also organized every year.
